Cainiao Best Choice: What Last-Mile Tracking Can Confirm
In June 2026 Cainiao said its overseas-warehouse network launched a last-mile product that uses AI to match each order to a local carrier. The company calls the product 菜鸟优配, also written CN_Best Choice. That is a merchant routing offer. It is not a consumer setting you can switch on from a tracking page.
Track the shipment you already have if you need the current scans. Use this page to understand what the announcement covers and what it cannot prove about one parcel.
What Cainiao said about Best Choice#
Cainiao's news listing dated June 16, 2026 says overseas warehouses launched 菜鸟优配 and introduced AI decision-making into the overseas-warehouse last-mile step. Xinhua's June 10, 2026 report on the same product says Cainiao automatically matches orders on CN_Best Choice to a last-mile carrier, that the service is live in the United States and Germany with nationwide coverage in both markets, and that France and Poland were described as upcoming markets. Read the Xinhua report for those market and cost-range statements.
Xinhua also reported that Cainiao compared historical orders and said the product could reduce last-mile fees by 3% to 13% in most regions and weight bands, and by up to 40% in some regions. Those figures are company-stated merchant savings, not a refund, a delivery-time guarantee, or a rule for your checkout.
What this does not tell you about one order#
Best Choice does not appear as a universal tracking status. A CAINIAO number, a US or German address, or an overseas-warehouse mention is not enough to prove the seller bought this product.
It also does not tell you:
- Which last-mile courier will scan your parcel.
- Whether the parcel is already in a US or German warehouse.
- Whether the 40% cost claim applies to your seller.
- Whether France or Poland coverage is already live for that merchant.
For a Canada-bound warehouse question, use what Cainiao's Canada warehouses can confirm. Warehouse capacity and last-mile routing are separate facts.
How to read tracking when the last mile is assigned#
If the seller used an overseas warehouse, the useful clues are still on the order page and in the scan list:
- The checkout or dispatch notice may name a local fulfillment service. Save it before the listing changes.
- A later courier name or replacement number is the event to check on that courier's official site. See when a Cainiao parcel changes to a local carrier.
- An arrival-in-country scan is not the same as a last-mile assignment.
If two similar orders use different US or German couriers, Best Choice is one possible merchant-side explanation. It is not the only one. Sellers can also contract a courier directly.
What to ask the seller#
Ask whether the item shipped from overseas-warehouse stock, whether a last-mile partner was assigned, and whether a local tracking number exists. Include the order number and the latest scans. The seller selected the service. CNUSUP cannot see that contract.
